Wildwood eyes vote on charging for beaches

WILDWOOD, N.J. - January 12, 2012

Wildwood is considering a referendum in which voters would be asked whether the city should start charging for beach badges. Wildwood is one of a handful of Jersey shore towns that don't charge for beach access.

The city is looking for new revenue.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the council may consider cabanas and beach bars before charging for beach badges.

Wildwood officials say they're far from making a decision and the beaches will definitely still be free this summer.
