Pa. woman gets jail in teen drinking death

LANCASTER, Pa. - March 9, 2012

Authorities say Norma Edkin hosted at least 15 underage drinkers at her Mountville, Lancaster County home at a June 2010 drinking party that led to the death of 18-year-old Joseph Blankenmyer.

The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era reports Edkin tearfully apologized at her sentencing Thursday, telling Blankenmyer's mother she wished she'd helped her son.

Edkin pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and furnishing alcohol to minors as her trial was set to begin.

Blankenmyer had a blood-alcohol level between .357 and .438 percent the night he died.
