Teen cited for luring prank in Warminster

WARMINSTER TWP, Pa. - March 12, 2012

At approximately 4:55 p.m. Saturday, the Warminster Township Police Department responded to the 700 block of Meadow Drive for a report of attempted child luring.

An 11-year-old child reported, between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., he observed a van proceed down the roadway.

The driver of the van waived to the child and yelled, "Hey buddy, do you want any candy?"

The child ran to the back of his house and had no further contact.

The van then left the area in an unknown direction.

The Warminster Township Police initiated an investigation and subsequently located the van and identified the occupants.

The occupants were interviewed and it was determined to have been a prank with no intention of harming the child.

As a result, the driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Paul Smith, will be cited for Disorderly Conduct, a summary offense.

A citation will be filed at the District Court of Judge Daniel Finello.

As of this point, the Warminster police believe that this is an isolated incident.
