New Castle County police say 26-year-old Tyree Long broke into the New Castle-area home through a bedroom window shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday.
Police say Long then threatened and assaulted the woman in the presence of her five children.
Authorities believe Long grabbed the woman by the hair and dragged her into the kitchen.
One of the woman's children called 911, and Long was arrested. He's been detained after failing to post $27,100 bond.
