Officers say the man tried to rob a Chinese Take-Out Restaurant at 71st Street and Woodland Avenue around one this morning.
Police arrived and chased the suspect along Woodland Avenue.
Officers say they caught up with him on the playground at the William T. Tilden Middle School as the suspect reportedly reached for something in his pants.
A Philadelphia Police Sergeant fired two shots in the suspect's direction and he surrendered.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect was taken into custody and faces numerous charges.
