Brian Carter, Philly radio personality, dies at 56

Former Power 99 FM and WDAS FM morning personality Brian Carter passed away early Sunday morning at the age of 56 from a massive heart attack, Clear Channel Media tells Action News.

Carter was best known as one half of the popular morning show "Carter and Sanborn in the Morning" which aired on Power 99 FM from 1987 to 1999 and on WDAS FM in 2006.

Former partner Dave Sanborn, whose real name is Bill Simpson, said in a statement, "I am devastated beyond words at the loss of Brian Carter, the best radio partner on the planet and most importantly one of my dearest friends. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones."

A tribute to Brian Carter will be broadcast Monday on Power 99's morning show with Uncle O, Mikey Dredd and Mina and on WDAS FM with Patty Jackson.

Brian Carter most recently worked at WBLS FM in New York and XM radio.
