Two people seriously hurt in Delaware crash

NEW CASTLE, Del. - May 25, 2012

It happened at 2:45 p.m. Friday in the 2000 block of Route 9, New Castle Avenue.

Delaware State Police say the driver lost control and struck a utility pole.

It took 15 minutes for crews to free the driver, who was in the passenger seat when first responders arrived.

Crews found the passenger, a 25-year-old man, outside the vehicle.

Both were taken to Christiana Hospital in serious condition.

Route 9 northbound was closed at Landers Lane as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
