NY man faces charges after police chase in NJ

MONTVALE, N.J. - July 4, 2012

Authorities say 28-year-old Chad Robinson of Caledonia then led officers on a chase, throwing several bags of heroin out his window before stopping in Woodcliff Lake.

Montvale police say Robinson's SUV was parked at the Montvale Service Area when officer Ryan Van Dalinda approached him around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Robinson then allegedly accelerated, hitting Van Dalinda in the leg.

The officer then reached into the car after seeing bags of heroin, and was struck in the arm as Robinson drove away. Authorities say the officer wasn't seriously injured.

Robinson could not be reached for comment.
