Crews battle railroad bridge fire in Grays Ferry

Firefighters battled a railroad bridge fire in the city's Grays Ferry section early Tuesday morning.

The blaze broke out around 1:30 a.m. on Schuylkill Avenue near Wharton Street.

A marine firefighting unit joined firefighters on land to fight the stubborn blaze.

It took about a half hour to get it under control.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
