Only Action News was on the scene as Michael Vega arrived for a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning.
He allegedly led a female officer on a chase back in September.
The incident happened at 10:30 p.m. on September 28th at Third and Kersey Streets.
Once the police officer caught up to Vega, the two struggled.
The officer's weapon went off during the struggle and she was shot in the leg.
Vega was initially being pursued as a hit and run suspect.
