In South Philadelphia, a SEPTA bus collided with several vehicles at 20th Street and Pattison Avenue at 7:30 a.m. Friday.
Images from the Action Cam at the scene showed police activity, a disabled SEPTA bus and a blue sedan with extensive front-end damage.
There was no immediate word of injuries.
In Northeast Philadelphia, two separate school bus accidents occurred within minutes of each other on Roosevelt Boulevard at Summerdale Avenue. Children were on one of the buses. No serious injuries were reported.
In Rhawnhurst, the driver of a Lincoln Town Car lost control and slid into the back of a Philadelphia Water Department truck. It happened at 10:00 a.m. No serious injuries were reported.
Icy conditions were also reported along Spring Garden Street from Christopher Columbus Boulevard to Broad St. Travel was particularly hazardous around 2nd and Spring Garden Streets, where a Toyota Prius slid off the road into a building.
NEW JERSEY
In New Jersey, state police reported more than 250 motor vehicle crash responses between 7:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Among the hardest-hit areas were Burlington and Cumberland Counties.
Accident reports from NJ State Police road stations included 30+ crashes from the Bridgeton Barracks; 25+ from Red Lion Station; and 22+ from Bass River Station along the southern Garden State Parkway.
In South Jersey, icy roads were blamed for a fatal crash involving a Philadelphia-bound New Jersey Transit bus in Pine Hill.
In Southampton Twp., Burlington County a fire truck was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 206 near Carranzza Road.
State Police say at 9:00 a.m. the operator tried to drive around a line of traffic backed up because of icy conditions. The fire truck slid on the ice, spun and struck several vehicles. The driver was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden to be treated for minor injuries.
In Deptford, a motorist told Action News she hit the brakes and slid into a guard rail, only to be hit moments later by another vehicle in the 1500 block of Almonesson Road.
Numerous accidents were reported along a 3-mile stretch of County Road in Pemberton Township, Burlington County. All roads in the area were said to be covered with ice.
In Absecon, a pickup truck slid off the road along Ohio Avenue near Station Avenue, ripping off one of its rear wheels.
Salt trucks were seen treating roads in that area.
DELAWARE
In Delaware, state police said between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Friday they responded to 9 crashes with injuries, and 56 crashes with property damage only in New Castle and Kent Counties. The majority of the accidents were said to be weather-related.
Police in Wilmington tell Action News they responded to more than 30 accidents after 6:00 a.m.
Among those, one person was hospitalized after a head-on collision in icy conditions along the 400 block of South Madison Street. It happened in front of the Penn Cinema Theater.
And first responders were also on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on West 4th Street in Wilmington after a motorist lost control on the ice and hit several parked vehicles. There was no immediate word on injuries.
