The shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. Monday on the 400 block of East 35th Street.
Police responded to the scene and found a man in his 40's or early 50's shot in the chest.
Medics transported the victim to Christiana Hospital where he later died.
Officers found a shell casing in front of a shrub-lined entrance to a home where the victim was discovered.
So far, there is no word on arrests or a motive.
Police are investigating.
