Christie heads to GOP area for town hall

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) - March 4, 2014

The Republican governor will be in Toms River on Tuesday to hear from residents affected by last year's storm.

At a town hall two weeks ago in Monmouth County, Christie heard complaints from residents still displaced by the storm. But the governor didn't hear from commuters stuck in massive traffic jams manufactured by his aides.

Christie recently returned to holding town halls in loyal Republican areas, where he is known for commanding the crowd with a mix of straight talk and humor.

The possible 2016 presidential candidate has been carefully controlling his public appearances since a political payback scandal erupted with revelations that his aides caused massive traffic backups as an act of retaliation.
