1 in custody after abduction reported in Fern Rock

FERN ROCK (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police have taken one person into custody after an abduction was reported in the Fern Rock neighborhood.

Police say a man was abducted from a family member's house on Cranston Road overnight by four men in a van.

He was found along the 700 block of Chew Avenue on Monday morning. Police say he had obvious signs of being assaulted.

Officers also chased a man on that foot at the scene, who was taken into custody.

There is also a scene at the Pathmark located on Monument Avenue that is also believed to be connected to the abduction.

Two cars in the Pathmark parking lot were pulled over. Police say they found drugs and guns inside both cars.

Investigators say they believe the abduction was motivated by drugs.

An investigation into this case continues.
