Chester fire causes house collapse

CHESTER - December 29, 2007 Action News was the scene before firefighters even struck the second alarm along the 600 block of West 3rd in Chester.

The fire started around 11 a.m. in a large apartment house as a resident was apparently cooking. When the man tried to put out the fire with an extinguisher the fire spread to 2 alarms.

The fire spread to two other apartments and an adjacent vacant building. The vacant building collapsed.

All of the people in the apartment building were able to get out without any injuries. 2 families that were living in the building are now homeless.
