Philadelphia cab fares may be increasing as fuel costs rise.

A public hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m. Thursday on the request by the Philadelphia Parking Authority, which supervises the taxicabs.

The authority board will be asked to raise fares from $2.10 to $2.30 per mile.

The fare from Center City to Philadelphia International Airport would be a flat $28. That is now $25 plus a $1.25 fuel surcharge.
