Accident causes long delays on I-95

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - January 25, 2008

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. near Cottman Avenue.

Police said the accident involved a tractor-trailer and at least two cars. Officials initially said one person was killed in the crash, but later said no one had been killed.

Two men were taken to area hospitals with unspecified injuries. Those injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

All northbound lanes of I-95 were closed at Cottman Avenue as the accident was cleared. One lane was opened just after 6:30.

A fuel spill kept the other lanes closed for more than two hours as crews worked to clean it up.
