As we first reported Wednesday, the city condemned the stables this week and ordered them torn down immediately. A horse and a pony were removed under suspicions of neglect. The other horses are being relocated by their owners. They appear to be in relatively good health.
The horse owners say the animals are well-cared-for, and that the stables help children in the community.
They say the city is acting now because the area is slated for a redevelopment project. The SPCA says the agency is cracking down on animal abuse and neglect cases.
