Cousins charged in beating death

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - April 18, 2008 A New Castle County police officer pulled over Gerald and Sean Smith of Penns Grove, N.J., on an unrelated offense Wednesday night about 15 minutes after Tyrone Cassidy was found unconscious in the 300 block of West 29th Street.

When they were questioned about the beating, the cousins said they were in the area at the time. But they were later charged in Cassidy's death after investigators linked evidence found at the scene to them and some of Cassidy's property was found in the car.

The Smiths are being held at Howard Young Prison.
