Delaware's high infant mortality rate

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - May 2, 2008 The Child Death, Near Death and Stillbirth Commission says 59 percent of all infant deaths in Delaware were due to prematurity, making the state's rate the sixth worst.

Commission chair Dr. Garrett Colmorgen says the study looked at the risk factors associated with child death. He says parents can protect their kids with common sense safety measures, such as closing the screen door so kids can't get to the pool.
