Middletown man charged in goslings' deaths

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (AP) - May 16, 2008 Michael Gonzalez was given summonses charging him with needlessly abusing and killing a living creature.

Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Police Chief Victor Amato tells the Asbury Park Press witnesses say the 30-year-old was smiling when he emerged from the woods.

The baby geese, which still had downy yellow fur, died of blunt force injuries.

Amato tells the newspaper he found the birds' parents lying beside their dead offspring.
