Seven feared dead after crash in California canal
WESTLEY, Calif. - July 16, 2008 The SUV was carrying farm workers.
Divers have recovered one body. Searchers have located a vehicle
but have not been able to remove it from the canal's swift-moving
water.
Investigators believe six people were traveling in the SUV based
on reports from family and witnesses.
The Delta-Mendota Canal, about 15 miles southwest of Modesto, is
about 17-feet deep and 100-feet wide in the area where the crash
occurred.
