PHILADELPHIA (AP) - July 22, 2008
Medical examiner's office spokesman Jeff Moran says the body of
a 67-year-old South Philadelphia man was found in his second floor
bedroom Monday night. Moran says there was no air conditioning, and
the windows were open with a small fan circulating hot air in the
bedroom.
The cause of death was listed as hypertensive cardiovascular
disease and excessive exposure to heat. That was the same cause of
death listed for the death of a 62-year-old man over the weekend,
the first from the current heat wave.
Moran says the city has recorded 21 heat-related deaths so far
this year.
