Humane Society officer Tina Walter says the 54 pigs were cramped together without adequate food or water in a dirty barn near Meshoppen in Wyoming County.
The animals were taken on Monday to a pen near Waverly, where they were fed and watered. A veterinarian will examine the pigs.
Humane society officials say they hope people may be interested in adopting some of the animals, since potbellied pigs are considered good pets.
