It happened around 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Telford Inn Restaurant at 145 Bridgeton Pike in Mantua Township, Gloucester County.
Police say when they arrived at the scene they found the driver, 49 year old Cindy Hoagland of Mullica Hill, unconscious. Rescuers removed her from the vehicle and took her to Cooper University Hospital.
According to witnesses, Hoagland's vehicle was travelling southbound on Route 45 when it crossed over Main Street, cut across the northbound lanes, through a parking lot and crashed into the restaurant.
Investigators say there is extensive damage to both the building and a gas line. South Jersey Gas was called in to make repairs.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. There may be charges depending on the outcome of the investigation.
