Police nab pair for serial burglaries

COLLINS PARK, Del. - August 26, 2008 New Castle County Police arrested Nicholas Porter, 26, and his girlfriend Trisha Carmichael, 33, both of Collins Park, and charged them with a series of burglaries in their community between August 17 and August 22.

Police say on Friday they spotter Porter driving a car that had been taken in one of the burglaries. An officer stopped Porter and police found evidence linking him to five burglaries in which jewelry, prescription drugs and other items were stolen. Some of the jewelry was recovered as was a plasma television, worth $3,600, that Porter is accused of selling to a neighbor for $50.

Police also arrested Carmichael after their investigation showed she had pawned some of the jewelry from one of the burglaries.

Carmichael is free on bail. Porter is in the Howard Young Prison after failing to post bail.
