Strange 911 calls happen everywhere

STIRLING, Scotland (AP) - September 16, 2008

In the U.K., 999 is equivalent to 911 in the States.

Police in Scotland report one woman called 999 with concerns about her pet rabbit.

It seems an ad for the rabbit promised floppy ears, but hers didn't flop.

Chief Inspector Alan Stewart in Stirling says another man complained that a passing car splashed water on him.

Someone else called police to find out the postal code for the local post office.

Inspector Stewart says such "frivolous matters" keep officers from dealing with real emergencies.
