School district security tells Action News it all began when a police officer inside the school told a female student to move along, because she was not where she was supposed to be.
The district says that student then assauted the officer. Other students became involved and the situation quickly escalated.
In all, 17 male students and 5 female students were arrested for disorderly conduct.
Officers say no injuries have been reported.
Sayre High students were dismissed early, however this was a previously scheduled early dismissal, and is not related to the fight.
