WHEATON, Md. - December 23, 2008 - Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Blanca Kling says the
people were shot during an altercation outside Westfield Mall at
about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Montgomery County police Lt. Paul Starks
tells The Washington Post that the gunman then entered Macy's and
shot at a police officer.
Neither the officer nor shoppers were believed to have been
hurt.
Police say they have suspects, but have made no arrests.
Elina Kazan, a spokeswoman for Macy's in New York, says the
store is open, though some sections are closed to shoppers because
of the investigation. She says Macy's is cooperating with police.
