Eagles, Giants business is booming

HAMILTON, TWP., N.J. - January 9, 2009 Right on the border of Giants and Eagles territory in Hamilton, New Jersey, means businesses stay happy no matter who stays in the playoffs.

The New York Philadelphia rivalry gets fired up again this season, but this time the stakes are big and so are the dollars rolling in for businesses like Wesley's Pub located in Florence Township, right along the Eagles-Giants divide.

"We have Giants fans and Eagles fans that are coming; it should be totally crazy and busy, big crowds, we hope everybody comes down, the more the merrier," Verann Wesley, pub owner, said.

It is a welcome relief after months of suffering from an economy that hasn't exactly been flying high.

"It's been an up and down season, but the bars around here really pick up a lot due to the Eagles games,"Adam Borota of Roebling, New Jersey said.

But not everyone is planning to venture out for the big game.

"Sunday, I'm going to watch it at the house, have a couple people over with the kids, I have four little guys, dressed in the Eagles garb, and hope for a big win," Steve Bosken of West Chester said.

Which means lines at the Italian People's Deli in Trenton will be out the door.

"It will be packed in here from the time people get out of church at 10:00 until the game starts at 1:00," Matt Guagliardo said.

Although the owners are fans of that team from up north, they're bigger fans of game day customers, blue or green.

At times this may be hostile territory with all the Eagles and Giants fans butting heads, but it will be profitable area for at least the next two weekends.
