At least 70 cats found after arrest

PINE GROVE, Pa. (AP) - January 27, 2009 Police were led to the cats after the woman, Virginia Justiniano, was stopped in Pine Grove on Saturday for a traffic violation.

Police Officer Mark Resue describes the house where the woman and her boyfriend lived as "basically a shoothouse," littered with hypodermic needles.

Officials with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals say Justiniano had operated a sanctuary called Cats With No Names since 1996.

Justiniano estimated she had between 70 and 100 cats. Some were dead, while several geese, chickens and other animals also roamed the property.

Justiniano and her boyfriend are being held on $25,000 bail.
