Officer trapped by live wires after crash

WATERFORD, N.J. - March 1, 2009 The incident started around 2:30 a.m. when the driver of a car lost control, rolled over and struck a business in the 200 block of White Horse Pike in Waterford Township.

A police officer from Berlin Township responding to assist at the accident scene lost control of his patrol car and struck a utility pole.

The impact of the officer's car striking the pole caused live wires to fall onto the officer's car, trapping the officer inside until utility crews could arrive and shut off the power.

The officer was not injured. The occupant of the vehicle that rolled over only received a minor injury.
