Investigators say the defendant told them that she and her daughter had argued, the teen began striking her, she grabbed an object from behind her and the girl was injured when she "lunged" at her.
The teenager was pronounced dead at Crozer-Chester Medical Center at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday. A knife was recovered from a nearby sewer drain.
Rodriguez remained in custody and it was unclear whether she had an attorney.
