Bouncer killed, another hurt in NJ bar brawl

ATLANTIC CITY - March 22, 2009 25-year-old Luis Martinez is being held in county jail on $250,000 bail. He is facing two count of aggravated assault.

The fatal victim has been identified as 27-year-old Richard Rivera of Atlantic City. Autopsy results revealed that the Rivera suffered four stab wounds; three were superficial. The fatal stab wound was to the heart.

The other victim, Richard Kutch, was seriously injured in the fight and remained hospitalized.

It happened at around 5:00 Sunday morning at the Irish Pub located on the 100 block of St James Place.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's office Rivera and Kutch, both employees at the pub, tried to intervene in an altercation. That's when Rivera was fatally stabbed and Kutch was injured.

Atlantic County Medical Examiner Dr. Hydow Park performed the autopsy on Richard Rivera on Sunday. The victim suffered four stab wounds; three were superficial. The fatal stab wound was to the heart.

The other victim, Richard Kutch, 27, of Atlantic City, remains hospitalized.

Additional charges against Luis Martinez are pending.
