'Joe the Plumber' to stump for NJ Republican

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - April 21, 2009 Steve Lonegan's campaign announced the man who became known in the 2008 presidential campaign will appear at a taxpayer rally in Clark on May 5.

Joe the Plumber's real name is Samuel Wurzelbacher. He found himself in the spotlight for asking Democrat Barack Obama about his tax policy. Sen. John McCain referred to him repeatedly as "Joe the Plumber" during a subsequent presidential debate.

Lonegan is seeking the GOP nomination for governor along with former U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie and Assemblyman Rick Merkt.

Lonegan's campaign is charging $1,000 for a private meeting with the one-time plumber and the candidate.
