Woman guilty of helping boyfriend evade police

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - July 1, 2009 Thirty-nine-year-old Tonya Stephens was convicted Tuesday of hindering the apprehension of a fugitive and criminal conspiracy. Authorities say she helped /*Eric Floyd*/ hide after he and two other men robbed a bank and one of the men fatally shot Philadelphia police Sgt. /*Stephen Liczbinski*/ in May 2008.

Defense attorney Bernard Siegel says he plans to appeal.

Floyd and another man are awaiting trial on murder charges. Alleged shooter Howard Cain was killed by police after he pointed a rifle at two other officers a short time later.

Prosecutors say they will argue for the maximum of seven to 14 years in prison for Stephens.
