Airshow offers hours of free entertainment

ATLANTIC CITY - August 19, 2009

This year's show will take place today, August 19, 2009.

The first planes will zoom by around 11:00 a.m. And the excitement won't end until after 3:00 in the afternoon.

And aside for what you might have to pay for parking, it's absolutely free. The Borgata, which is one of the Air Show sponsors, offers a free shuttle from its parking garage to the show. Self-parking is $5.

"It's the 7th year for the Atlantic City Airshow. It's the largest midweek airshow on the East Coast and it's also one of the few free airshows," explains Dave Coskey, Vice President of Marketing for the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa.

"And it's not at an airport like most airshows, it's over the beach," he adds. Between watching the planes swoop overhead, you can take a dip in the water, or enjoy a picnic lunch in your lounge chair on the beach.

Last year, nearly 700,00 people watched from Atlantic City's beaches... beaches that don't charge beach fees.

This year, police say, they're estimated that more than 700,000 people are in attendance!

The fans weren't disappointed.

Highlights of this year's show will include the U.S. Army Golden Knights and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

"The Thunderbirds steal the show at the end," Coskey says. "They rock the beach!"
