Medical waste washes up on Jersey beaches

TOMS RIVER, N.j. - September 6, 2009 Ocean County Health Department officials say six syringes were found early Friday between two beaches in Toms River.

Seven syringes were also discovered at Island Beach State Park in nearby Berkeley.

Officials say the items appear to have come from household trash and may have been churned up by recent coastal storms.
