Police are searching for five men who broke into a South Philadelphia home - armed with guns and knives.

It happened on the 2100 block of South 5th Street around 1:30 Wednesday morning.

Police say the bandits climbed a tree to the roof of the house, stepped in tar, then broke into the home.

The robbers left a trail of footsteps in the house as they tied up three people and stole cell phones and computers.

One hostage managed to get free and chased the robbers out of the house. The bandits fled in a car.

Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.
