John Travolta arrives for Bahamas extortion trial
NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) - September 23, 2009 Travolta pulled up in an entourage of sport utility vehicles and
entered a police station across the street from the Nassau
courthouse. Bahamas police officers surrounded the courthouse.
Wednesday is the actor's first appearance at the trial.
A paramedic and a former Bahamas senator allegedly tried to
blackmail Travolta with private information following the death of
his chronically ill son at a family vacation home in the island
chain off Florida. Both have pleaded innocent to extortion charges
at the trial that began Monday.
