Paramedics responded to the area of W. 5th and Montgomery Streets around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday for the report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, medics found the victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
The man was transported to Christiana Hospital where he remains critical.
Police have made no arrests in this case. No further information is available at this time.
