The accident happened Saturday night, just outside the Wilmington city limits. Police say Dylan Meeks was trying to cross Maryland Avenue on the railroad tracks near Germay Drive when he was struck by a car.
The boy was trapped under the vehicle. Emergency workers freed him and rushed in to Christiana Hospital, where he died.
Police say Dylan was not wearing a helmet.
Police say alcohol and speed don't appear to be factors in the crash.
