Police: Teen fired gun to stop attack on mom

DOVER, Del. (AP) - October 29, 2009

The woman told police that she and her estranged husband, 32-year-old Jeremy Stanislow of Smyrna, argued Tuesday because he wanted to take their youngest child with him and Stanislow began to assault her.

Court records state that the woman's 16-year-old son hit Stanislow with a board and Stanislow punched the woman until she blacked out when she tried to stop Stanislow from beating their son. That's when police say the woman's 14-year-old son fired a shotgun in the air and Stanislow ran.

Stanislow was charged with three counts of assault, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and disorderly conduct. He told police he was attacked.
