Westbrook out; Eagles win 40-17

PHILADEPHIA (AP) - November 1, 2009

The Eagles jumped out to a 7-0 lead on their first possession, thanks to good field position on the opening kickoff and a 41-yard touchdown run by Leonard Weaver. Then, following an interception, the Eagles scored another touchdown on a pass to Brent Selek. The extra point was blocked to make the score 13-0. A field goal by David Akers early in the second quarter put the Eagles up 16-0.

A Giants touchdown late in the 2nd quarter made the score 16-7. The Eagles answered within the next minute with a long touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson to make the score 23-7. Then after a Eli Manning pass pickoff, the Eagles scored again quickly to make the score 30-7.

The Eagles started the 3rd quarter by recovering a New York fumble on the opening kickoff. However they could only manage a field goal to make the score 36-7.

Westbrook has only 197 yards rushing this season. He didn't practice all week after he was knocked unconscious in the Eagles' 27-17 win over Washington on Monday night when he took a knee to his head.

Other notable inactives for the Eagles are safety Macho Harris (ankle), receiver Kevin Curtis (knee) and defensive end Victor Abiamiri (knee).

Giants cornerback Aaron Ross (hamstring) and receiver Mario Manningham (shoulder) were among their inactives.

Manningham hurt his left shoulder on the last play of practice Thursday. He was held out of the team's final workout. He has started six of seven games this season, catching 28 passes for 439 yards and four touchdowns.
