Penalty phase delayed in officer slaying trial

PHILADELPHIA - November 23, 2009

A defense attorney for /*John Lewis*/ asked for the delay for personal reasons. The 23-year-old defendant could face the death penalty after being convicted of first-degree murder last week in the shooting death of Officer /*Chuck Cassidy*/.

Cassidy died a day after Lewis shot him in the head when the veteran officer walked in on a robbery on Oct. 31, 2007.

Closing arguments are now set for Tuesday.
