Firefighters in Erie say Mike Kightlinger spent half an hour in the Presque Isle Bay channel Tuesday night before firefighters lowered a ladder down so he could climb out. Paramedics wrapped him in a blanket and took him to a hospital for observation.
Kightlinger's wife, Lisa, told the Erie Times-News the two of them were walking their dog, named Cat, on a pier when it slipped and her husband jumped in. Another couple tried to help and were still trying to pull Mike Kightlinger out when firefighters arrrived.
The dog was barking and fogging the window of Kightlinger's Jeep.
