Cyber Monday mid-day tips

Philadelphia - November 30, 2009

Millions of Americans hit the computers for what's become the kick-off of the online holiday shopping season. Because retailers know that, they're offering some great deals. But there are things you can do to make those deals even better.

Since many people have access to high-speed internet on their jobs, even if they don't have it at home, today's the day many people choose to do their online shopping. In this economy, retailers are doing what they can to draw online shoppers in.

Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic and Piperlime, for example, are offering 20% off their entire site -- plus free shipping -- if you use the code MONDAY at checkout.

Reebok will take 40% off your order -- including sale and clearance merchandise -- with the code CYBER40.

And at Kohl's, the more you shop, the more you save. They'll take 15% off any order. If you spend $75, you'll also get free shipping. Spend $100, you still get free shipping and the discount jumps to 20%.

If you don't have a coupon code, you can check aggregator sites like CouponCabin, FreeShipping.org, and RetailMeNot for codes -- or simply Google the store name and the word coupon.

You can see if the retailer has a fan page on Facebook and sign up for that. Often, they'll send special deals and codes to their fans.

And while retailers aren't guaranteeing that today's prices will be the lowest before Christmas, you might want to re-think putting off purchases of in-demand items.

We'll also be updating the coupon codes on our Saving with 6abc page throughout the day -- so make sure you check their before you checkout.
