Motorists caught talking or texting on a hand-held cell phone now face fines starting at $75.
Police officers have been only issuing warnings for the past month but say they'll begin ticketing drivers on Tuesday.
The ban applies only to hand-held devices. Drivers can still use handsfree devices or call 911 in an emergency.
