A courageous police dog, who survived two gunshot wounds and potentially deadly infection, is back home.

Diablo was released from Penn's Ryan Vet Hospital in University city on Tuesday.

The New Castle County K-9 was shot while tracking a suspect in Wilmington three weeks ago. While he was in the hospital, Diablo developed pneumonia.

Doctors say his recovery is nothing less than miraculous.

They sent Diablo home with a new chew toy and strict orders to rest.
