The strike force officer was on patrol, when he spotted a man with a gun.
The officer confronted the man near 40th and Brown streets Wednesday night and an altercation took place. The officer fired several shots, but the man escaped unharmed.
A weapon was recovered and police are investigating. Police do not think the man in the incident was injured by the officer's gunfire.
